Marshall Egelnick, our partner and friend, announces his retirement
The New Year brings with it a change in the leadership ranks here at KRP. After 40 years as an integral member of our management team, our friend and colleague Marshall Egelnick is calling it a career.
Egelnick replaced Founding Partner Ralph Rabinowicz (since retired) as Managing Partner in 2014, and in early 2020 was succeeded by our current Co-Managing Partners George Grignano and Armando Iannuzzi. The two have pursued a dynamic new vision of growth in key market segments and across service lines since assuming their leadership roles.
With more than 46 years of experience as a Chartered Professional Accountant, Egelnick has proven a leader in areas such as financial management, tax compliance and planning, assurance and trust and estate planning, helping countless organizations develop effective structures and achieve impressive bottom-line growth.
His lengthy client list has included organizations operating across industries including professional services, contracting, manufacturing and the not-for-profit sector. Perhaps most importantly, he built lasting relationships with our clients, serving as a trusted advisor to countless business owner-operators who leaned on his considerable expertise to steer their organizations in the right strategic direction.
“This is a bittersweet moment for all of us at KRP,” explained Iannuzzi. “While we’re excited to see Marshall begin a new chapter in his life—one that will surely include a great deal more travel once we’re able to visit international destinations again, and more time with his children—he will be sorely missed.”
Iannuzzi continued: “Marshall has not only been a wonderful colleague and a mentor to us all, but a great friend. He’s never shied from sharing his wealth of knowledge or providing advice, insights and guidance. He’s been a driving force behind KRP’s nearly 50 years of success.”
Egelnick’s clients have been informed of his retirement and their files have, or are being, transitioned to other partners and associates. As with the Managing Partner succession process, his retirement has been carefully coordinated to ensure complete service continuity and client satisfaction.
“Marshall is the ultimate problem solver,” said Co-Managing Partner George Grignano. “His ability to analyze a client’s business model, identify opportunities to enhance their operations and develop solutions to their most pressing challenges is second to none. But what he’ll be remembered for equally is his kindness and service-centric approach. He has always put clients’ needs first and that’s been demonstrated through the longevity of his many business relationships.
“In Marshall’s view, good was never good enough. His focus on continuous service improvement has become a hallmark of the KRP brand, one that we both embrace and will maintain after his departure.”
For his part, Egelnick sees his long-planned retirement as the culmination of a career spent helping clients reach (and often exceed) their full potential.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping entrepreneurs build their businesses,” he said. “I learned early on that organizations need the right accounting advice to achieve their operational goals, and providing that kind of direction has been a focus since the start of my career.
“I’ve been asked what I’ll miss most, and I always say that it’s the people. Our clients are dynamic business owner-operators who take extraordinary risks and exert unimaginable effort to support their families and provide jobs for their employees. Their commitment is awe-inspiring. Here at KRP, I’m proud to say that we’re very much a family. We support each other and constantly find new ways to go above and beyond to be better. I leave knowing that our team will only continue to build on that legacy, but also to grow our capabilities as a firm.”
In addition to his partnership duties, Egelnick has built a reputation as a renowned speaker and, formerly, as the firm’s representative on the management committee of Russell Bedford International, a global network of independent accounting firms of which KRP is an active member. Egelnick is also a long-time baritone with the Toronto Northern Lights, a gold medal-winning a cappella barbershop chorus that competes internationally.
